Biography

Michael A. Dunn received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School. He began his legal career with Hunton & Williams, LLP and spent nearly five years with Carlton Fields, P.A. before co-founding Sedki & Dunn, LLC in April 2010. Recently, Mr. Dunn was honored by “Super Lawyers” Magazine as one of Georgia’s Rising Stars in the Georgia legal profession.

Representative Cases and Transactions

A sampling of the matters in which Mr. Dunn has represented clients both in Georgia and in jurisdictions around the country include:

  • Represented a Georgia corporation in an action resulting in the court appointment of a receiver to administer the operations of a local restaurant chain. Additionally, as part of this action, the Court awarded a multi-million dollar judgment in the client’s favor against the personal guarantors of a loan associated with the operations of the businesses. In April 2010, the Georgia Court of Appeals affirmed this judgment.
  • Represented a national provider of fiber optics installation services in a breach of contract action against a general contractor before the American Arbitration Association. After the commencement of the final hearing, the matter settled favorably for the client.
  • Assisted in obtaining summary judgment, ultimately totaling in excess of $1 million, on behalf of a Georgia LLC that provides wastewater treatment services to Fulton County, Georgia in a breach of contract action against Fulton County.
  • Represented a national provider of construction materials and services in an appeal before the Georgia Court of Appeals arising from the trial court’s interpretation of a choice of forum clause in the parties’ contract. While on appeal, the case settled favorably for the client.
  • Represented an international retailer of home improvement products and services in a products liability and breach of warranty action.
  • Represented the managers of an Atlanta based development LLC in defense of a claim for the rescission of a sale of Florida commercial property valued at approximately $50 million at the time of trial. Served as second chair at the three week trial of this action and drafted all appellate briefs on behalf of the client.
  • Represented a major provider of cable television service in pursuit of a claim for breach of contract against another major cable provider.
  • Assisted in the representation an Atlanta based telecommunications auditor in an action for breach of contract that resulted in a $2.4 million verdict in the client’s favor in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
  • Represented a publicly traded corporation specializing in the provision of home health care services in a breach of contract action with its software developer in an action before the American Arbitration Association that resulted in a favorable settlement for the client.
  • Currently representing a variety of construction and development entities in breach of contract matters as well as matters arising under Georgia mechanic’s lien law.
  • Assisted in the representation of a prominent national retailer at mediation proceedings resulting in the favorable settlement of a multi-million dollar leasing dispute.
  • Assisted in the defense of an international oil corporation by assisting in the drafting of over 12,000 Answers to post judgment Proofs of Claim in a class action litigation in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
