Biography

Ms. Greaves concentrates her practice in the representation of healthcare providers and entities, advising them on a wide range of healthcare legal issues including state and federal healthcare laws and regulations, contract negotiations, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues, joint ventures, patient privacy and security laws, state certificate of need laws, employment law matters and general corporate and transactional matters.  She counsels healthcare clients on structuring their business relationships in order to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance with the myriad of healthcare laws and regulations while also attaining their business goals.

Ms. Greaves represents a wide array of physicians, physician practices and physician-related companies, including hospital-based physicians, specialty and subspecialty medical practices, primary care practices, several IPAs and practice management companies.  She also serves as part-time general counsel for MDdatacor, Inc., a healthcare care technology company that provides information support services to physician practices and health plans for quality improvement, medical home and pay for performance initiatives.

Originally from North Carolina, Ms. Greaves graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in English literature and obtained her juris doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and masters of public health from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health.

Prior to her legal career Ms. Greaves worked as a qualified developmental disability professional with Western Carolina Center, a state-funded facility for the developmentally disabled in Morganton, North Carolina and served as an adjunct faculty member of Western Piedmont Community College.

She is a member of the Georgia Bar, the Health Law Section of the Georgia Bar, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Before joining James Bates, Ms. Greaves “retired” from a large Atlanta firm in the fall of 2005 to start her own law firm, KB Greaves, LLC, allowing her to spend more time with her two children, Taylor Elizabeth and Dayton.
