Kort graduated summa cum laude from Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Communication.  While pursuing his J.D. at Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, he was a student attorney at the law school’s Community Legal Practice Center, assisting low-income clients with family law matters and basic estate planning.  Kort then attended the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he received an LL.M. in Taxation.  He was in the first Graduate Tax class at Georgetown to receive Certificates in Estate Planning.

Kort focuses his practice on estate planning and tax law.  He assists clients with the design and implementation of sophisticated estate and business succession plans.  He helps guide clients through the administration of complex trusts and estates.  He also advises businesses on a wide variety of tax issues, including the formation and operation of captive insurance companies.  He represents clients before the IRS and the U.S. Tax Court.

Kort and his wife, Dorothy, live in Macon and are members of First Presbyterian Church.
